Ceiling Cassette, Ducted & Floor Mounted Mini Splits

Not every room suits a wall-mounted indoor unit. Ceiling cassettes, concealed duct units and floor-mounted units give you the efficiency of a mini split heat pump with a different look and a different way of moving air.

Which indoor unit style is right for you?

  • Ceiling cassette mini splits recess into the ceiling and spread air from overhead, which suits open kitchens, living rooms, basements, offices and retail spaces.
  • 1-way cassette mini splits are slimmer ceiling units that direct air in one direction, a good fit for narrower rooms or along one wall.
  • Concealed duct (ducted) mini splits hide the air handler above the ceiling or in a closet and deliver air through short duct runs and grilles, so almost nothing is visible in the room.
  • Floor-mounted mini splits sit low on the wall near the floor, useful under windows, in attic rooms with knee walls, or where high wall space is limited.

FAQs

Is a ducted mini split the same as central air?

What ceiling do I need for a cassette?

A ceiling cassette mounts between joists or in a drop ceiling, so you need clearance above the ceiling for the unit body and condensate line. Your installer will confirm the fit.

Are cassette and ducted units harder to install?

They usually take more installation work than a wall unit because they go into the ceiling or connect to ducts. Plan on a licensed HVAC technician.

Can I get more than one room on a cassette system?
