How Tobacco Smoke Purifiers Are Built

According to the product description, the Airpura T600 uses a HEPA filter that captures 95% of airborne particles as small as 1 micron, plus a specialized tar barrier designed for tobacco smoke. The Austin Air HealthMate uses a 4-stage filtration system that its description says removes particles along with chemicals, gases and odors. No purifier makes indoor smoking safe; it can only help reduce smoke particles and odor in the air.

How much does an air purifier for cigarette smoke cost?

The Austin Air HealthMate is $714.99, and Airpura T series models run from $1,049.98 for the T600 to $1,599.98 for the T700 DLX-W.

Can an air purifier filter cigarette smoke?

Purifiers can capture smoke particles and, with carbon or tar barrier stages, help reduce odor. Results depend on room size, how much smoking occurs and filter condition.

What removes cigarette smell from a room?

Ventilation, cleaning fabrics and surfaces, and running a purifier with gas and odor filtration all help. The Airpura T series adds a tar barrier aimed at tobacco smoke residue.

What's the difference between the T600 and T700?

Both are Airpura tobacco smoke models offered in standard, DLX and W versions; prices run $1,049.98 to $1,449.98 for T600 versions and $1,199.98 to $1,599.98 for T700 versions. See each product page for specs.

What are the downsides of using an air purifier?

Purifiers need regular filter replacement, especially with heavy smoke, and they only treat the air that passes through them. Replacement filters are on our air purifier accessories page.
