Multi Zone Mini Splits

A multi zone mini split runs two or more indoor units from a single outdoor unit, so each room gets its own temperature control without ductwork. It is a good fit for homes, additions and converted spaces where several rooms need heating and cooling but you want only one condenser outside.

This collection includes dual zone, tri-zone, quad zone and five zone Senville systems from 18,000 to 48,000 BTU, plus ACiQ Essentials 18,000 and 24,000 BTU 2-zone systems. Several systems let you choose the size of each indoor unit, and some use ceiling cassettes instead of wall units.

How to choose a multi zone mini split

  • Count your rooms: pick a system with one zone for each room you want to control separately.
  • Size each head to its room: a 9,000 BTU indoor unit typically suits a bedroom, 12,000 BTU a larger bedroom or office, and 18,000 BTU or more an open living area.
  • Check the outdoor unit capacity: the outdoor unit's total BTU should match the combined load of the rooms.
  • Cold climates: several Senville multi zone systems are rated to heat down to -22°F, and the ACiQ 2-zone systems down to -13°F.

FAQs

What is the difference between dual zone and multi zone?

Dual zone means two indoor units on one outdoor unit. Multi zone is the general term and covers two, three, four or five zones.

Is one multi zone system better than several single zone systems?

A multi zone system means one outdoor unit and one electrical circuit instead of several. Separate single zone systems let each room run fully independently and can be placed farther apart.

Can I mix wall units and ceiling cassettes?

Some systems here use ceiling cassettes for every zone. For other mixes, see our ceiling cassette, ducted and floor-mounted systems or contact us.

Do I need a professional installer?

Yes. Multi zone systems involve several refrigerant line sets and high-voltage wiring, so plan on a licensed HVAC technician.
