Choose from Nordic spruce log rooms with 44mm or 70mm walls and modern glass-fronted designs, each delivered as a pre-cut kit for DIY assembly. Thicker walls and double glazing make a small room comfortable year-round.

Do I need a permit for a small backyard studio?

Many cities exempt accessory buildings under about 120 sq ft from a building permit, but rules vary. Read our permit guide, then confirm with your local building department.

How much does a small backyard studio cost?

Our small Outdoor Freedom Rooms start at $6,999 for the Harvest Grand Bungalow 107 and run up to $30,555 for the Sauna Largo 90. Garden House 24 Miriam offices run $8,075 to $13,240.

What sizes are available?

Listed sizes range from 100 sq ft for the Cube Loft 100 and Multi Cube Versa 100 to 188 sq ft for the Starla 44E ALU ISO, with many models between about 130 and 165 sq ft. Check each product page for the exact footprint and height.

What is the difference between 44mm and 70mm walls?

Both are solid Nordic spruce log walls; 44mm is 1.73 in thick and 70mm is 2.76 in thick. Sawmill Structures describes the Versa 107 70MM as built for year-round use, with double-glazed doors and windows.

Do these backyard studios come as kits?

Yes. Garden House 24 models arrive as flat-packed DIY kits with doors and windows included, and roofing cover and rain gutters available as extras. Sawmill Structures models such as the Versa 107 include pre-cut, pre-milled log walls, floor and ceiling boards, windows, doors and trim.

Can a small backyard studio be a sauna?

Yes. This collection includes eight outdoor saunas from 118 to 182 sq ft, from the Sauna Giusto 70 (118 sq ft, $20,154) to the Sauna Largo 90 (147 sq ft, $30,555).

Are there small studios with a loft or bedroom?

Yes. Loft options include the Grand Loft 107 Deluxe DD ($11,750) and BlueWater Loft 160 (from $13,999). The ALU Concept 70J is a 170 sq ft 1-bedroom Freedom Suite ($21,479).
